Richard B. “Rico” Modica Way is a short alley off Massachusetts Avenue in Central Square (Cambridge, Massachusetts) that has become a showcase for street art and graffiti condoned by the city. The art rotates weekly and includes tags, paintings, stencils, and wheatpasting. The work can be strange, obscure, political, or silly and it always changes, like a living exhibit.
There’s something magical to me about Modica Way. I’m amazed by the artists who put so much effort into their work, knowing it’s not permanent and will be covered over in a week or less. While I’m not a professional photographer, I walk through Central Square every weekend and have taken to documenting the wall as it changes.
